“Ọrọ Yoruba: Ọ̀fẹ́, Ọ̀rọ, ati Àlọ́ pẹlú Àpẹrẹ

1. A ki i gbo ilu lo si, a ki i gbo oro agbara lo si. (One does not only listen to the town, but also to the powerful words.)

2. Ounje ti a npe ni ti a nje l’eko. (The food we are praised for eating in public is what we truly enjoy.)

3. Agba ki wa loja, ki ori omo titun o wo. (The elderly do not visit the market in vain, the newly born does not inspect the head in vain.)

4. Eyan kan o gbon, ohun ekan lo ma nfi nse. (One person may not be knowledgeable, but two heads are better than one.)

5. Bi a ba ri agba, a ri ara eni. (When we see the elderly, we see the respect for others.)

6. Eniyan ko ba je, o le je ki a je ka dara fun. (One does not eat alone, so we should eat well for our neighbors.)

7. Bi iro ba nja, a gbe niwaju re lo. (When trouble comes knocking, we face it head-on.)o
